About Me

My name is Priscila Perales, and I’m a proofreader with a BA in History from PUCP (Peru’s #1 university according to the QS Ranking 2024). Yes, that means English is my second language, but I love it and have been learning it ever since I was a child. I even participated in an exchange program at Baylor University for a full semester as part of my undergrad. An avid reader from an early age, my proofreading experience stems from the 250+ ARCs I have helped typo-hunt in the past 7 years.

Bringing along the skills I developed during my undergraduate career, such as research, attention to detail, and an inquiring mind, I’m committed to helping you publish the best version of your books, using industry-standard tools like the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s dictionary. In my spare time, I can be found reading, listening to audiobooks or music, singing, playing the recorder, solving sudokus, or listening to the occasional podcast.

My Services
Light Copyediting + Proofreading

The light copyediting works on correcting continuity problems, redundancies, flagging inaccuracies, and pointing out oddly phrased sentences. The proofreading focuses on finding typographical errors, misspelled words, grammatical problems, punctuation mistakes, spacing errors, consistency in characters’ names, and alignment of paragraph indents.

It’s available for one pass ($0.004 per word), or two passes ($0.006 per word.) Short stories or projects below 10K words have a flat fee of $40.

I do not work with horror or erotica, spicy or steamy content.

Sensitivity Reading​

As a Hispanic and Latina, I can help you point out any cultural inaccuracies, biases, or stereotypes in your work, and/or check for correct Spanish usage.
